The difference between LED lamps and high pressure sodium lamps
LED advantages
1. Energy saving
Compared with traditional fluorescent lamps and high-pressure sodium lamps, LED lamps can save 50% to 70% of energy consumption.
2. Environmental protection
LED lamps do not contain mercury (Hg), lead (Pb) and other elements, and the whole process of manufacturing, use and scrapping does not produce environmental pollution.
3. Long life
The service life of traditional fluorescent lamps is about 3000-5000 hours, and the service life of LED lamps is more than 30000 hours (3-5 years).
4. No stroboscopic
Traditional fluorescent lamps will produce 100-200 strobes per second, and LED lights have no strobes to protect eyes.
5. Wide Start
The voltage of traditional fluorescent lamps is too low to start normally, and LED lamps can be started in the range of 90V-260V.
6. Instantly light up
Traditional fluorescent lamps have a delay in turning on, and frequent switching will damage the lamps. The response time of LED lamps is nanoseconds, which can be turned on instantly and can be switched on and off countless times.
7. The material is sturdy
The traditional light source is made of glass, which is fragile and dangerous. The LED lamp has no filament, no glass bubble, and is not afraid of vibration and is not easy to break.
Compared with LED lamps, high pressure sodium lighting has the following disadvantages:
l High power consumption and low power efficiency. For example, the high-pressure sodium lamp usually nominally 250W, its overall power consumption is generally about 307W, and the power efficiency is only 66.8%.
l The color rendering index is low, Ra is usually only about 20-30, the light appears dim, and the color reproduction ability is poor;
l The brightness controllability is poor. For high-pressure sodium lamps, a dedicated booster power supply can supply power to the lamp to light up, and its brightness cannot change rapidly in a transient manner.
l Short life, high maintenance cost.
l The light distribution is poor, and the water drop-shaped light spot effect makes a lot of useless light transmit to far away places outside the road. The ideal spot effect should be a rectangular spot, illuminating the road and a certain range on both sides (ie, the batwing light distribution curve).
l The power is large, and the line laying cost is extremely high. Due to the large power consumption, the diameter of the power copper wire used is relatively thick, while the LED street lamp can use relatively thin copper wire to meet the same needs.
